Biggest tuna ever, Bureaucrats and bad trip or was it?

For Capt. Justin Fleck, who has been working in the long-range fleet since the 1990s, a 400-pound yellowfin tuna was akin to something like Sasquatch. For years people heard about them and claimed to have seen them, but there was never any proof that they existed. That all changed in 2010 when a 405-pound yellowfin became the world record.

Small Baja communities missed the memo...

The small communities located along the Viscaino west coast between Turtle Bay and Abreojos have enjoyed an unusual billfish bonanza this year. Above is a disturbing image that surfaced recently on Facebook. It accentuates the lack of knowledge about the Mexican sportfishing regulations which allows only one billfish per day per boat. It also demonstrates the lack of awareness of those who reside away from the population centers in Baja Sur of the importance of releasing billfish to preserve the resource.

G20 Security heightens as fishing attempts a comeback

When you’re 8 and 10 years old and on your first Baja fishing trip with dad, every fish is a monster,
especially when you bait your own hook, put it in the water, and reel the fish in all by yourself
like 8-year-old Sean and 10-year-old A.J. Rose from Colorado.
